Row, Row, Row Your Boat

...gently through your apartment....

sigh.

If it can go wrong, it will. We came home from church today to a new in-ground pool in our house. Fun times. I had to call and cancel my shift at the Giant Warmblood barn. I am glad she is so nice and understanding. I've spent the past 12 hours cleaning up the new pool and water features in our basement apartment. Not so much fun, not so much fun at all!

So, for the rest of my weekend.

For my birthday I had a pretty amazing opportunity given to me. I was able to have the animal communicator come back out on Saturday to "talk" to Denali. I'm not going to lie, she really is amazing. I know that may make me sound crazy, but this is the same woman I had out to talk to Denali in August 2008. I asked her if she could tell me anything about Denali's neurological signs....

and this my friends is where it gets crazy (or crazier, depending on how you feel)....

She instantly started to write on her piece of paper and Denali sort of stared at her with this stare. It was pretty intense. The animal communicator asked me if we could bring her out of the field so I ran and got her halter. She then went on to explain that Denali is feeling a pressure right behind her right ear next to her atlas. She got the sense that the pressure was scar tissue, but that she can't be 100% sure. Sure enough, if you feel behind Denali's ears it does feel a lot different than the other horses. There is no indent, and Denali HATES, HATES, HATES, when you touch it. She was really sensitive on Saturday to it and it was hard to go near her head at all.

A while ago, Denali had a pretty nasty cut behind her ear. I didn't think anything of it because by the time I saw it, there was a scab, so I didn't do anything more about it other than putting some medicine on it.

If this is true, that would explain the intermittent neurological signs. It would explain why she looks so bad one day and almost normal the next. AND, in September I started to notice her stretching her jaw ALL the time. I knew it wasn't normal, but everyone said that she was "fine." Denali's vet came out to do a clinic and I briefly talked to her about it (after warning her again that I was nuts) and she said it was worth looking into.

The communicator also called me out on my "guilt" and she said I need to work through that. If you know me personally you know I always feel bad about everything all the time. That has more to do with my upbringing than anything. She also asked if one of her students could use me for a Guinea pig to work on my horse fear (which was almost gone, but not going to lie, since being used as a soccer ball, a bit nervous.) I really hope that works.

Denali said she loved being out of her stall, and that she'd really like to feel her feet again. I didn't have may questions, but got some sort of answer that I wanted. We'll see what the EPM test says when it comes back. I asked if she can tell if the horse has EPM, and she said she can't. She can tell what the horse feels, aka, not her feet, and then trying to figure out what is causing it is another story.

I was debating whether or not to even mention the communicator here because I am afraid that some people will think I've gone off the deep end, but you know what? Thanks to the new pool in my house I can!

Very very long time lurker, early January 2008, first time poster; if you could please post the animal communicator's info. I really could use her on my quarter horse gelding. I believe he's having some separation issues with his pasture mates. I could use a good talk with her about my gelding! Please and thank you. <3 Also, I meant to post about you and Denali getting through that awful November, but here's to the future! *cheers*

Ok, I am really starting to think that you've got some sort of curse or crazy bad voodoo magamba going on -- cuz, seriously, you give a whole new meaning to Murphy's Law! So sorry to hear about your new "pool," that has got to suck!!

As far as the animal communicator goes, I definitely don't think it means you're crazy, but I also wouldn't put much stock in it, either. The richer-than-God lady at my old barn had an animal psychic do a reading on her horse, and he/she said, "[Pony] knows that he's the best/most beautiful horse ever, he doesn't like to eat his supplements, and he would like you to rub his left shoulder with aromatic essential oils." Rofl!! We joked about that for MONTHS (behind the owner's back, of course)! :-D

That sucks about the flooding. Eep! I've heard a lot of incredible stories about animal communicators so I'm not as quick to dismiss them as I once was. I wouldn't take their word over medical advice, but it seems like a neat tool to have.

I believe that the ability to communicate on a deep level with animals is a real but rare gift. It's like any paranormal gift. I think it's real, but I don't believe that everyone who claims to have it actually does.

I have been curious about animal communicators. I have never seen one on action so I don't know what to think about them. I do know that I am very in tune with my personal (non-horse) animals and can tell when they feel bad, even when they seem fine to everyone else.

Look, if this helps get some answers dive away! Just try to find a deep-end that is NOT in your house :).

I don't know how I feel about animal communicators, I KNOW that some are just bogus, but I also know that animals do communicate with each other and with us. I think it's the speaking in whole sentences thing that bothers me because I don't believe that they think that way. However, I have been wrong before and it makes for interesting reading anyway, keep posting. Sounds like Denali is doing better, fingers crossed.

Weird, I wonder why she can't feel her feet. Does she have shoes on?

Did your vet say anything about gently massaging that area behind her ear to see if you can break up that scar tissue a bit?

Ahhh I listen to Sonja Fitzpatrick all the time on my XM radio, she's an animal intuitive. Love her. I've always wanted to call in and find out a) why my older JRT is so cranky and b) if Pong was a happy camper. I too suffered through 2 apartment floods in a rental a few years ago. MISERABLE. I hope everything was salavagable and it dries out quick!!!

Feel free to mention anything you want. I personally would never judge anyone for what they believe in. I do understand your hesitation though. I constantly doubt myself. :)

I'm not sure if I believe in animal communicators, but regardless I find it interesting what she did with Denali. Did she touch D at all before talking to her? My skeptical side wonders if she felt the scar tissue first. That's just how my brain works.

I think it's cool that she wants to use you as a guinea pig. Please keep us updated on that. I'm interested what they're going to do for your fear. :)

I'm glad D is still doing well. Sorry your house got flooded. That really, really sucks. :( My family had to deal with that when I was a kid and I still remember how awful it was. I hope none of your important or valuable things were ruined.

I hope the bad stuff takes a vacation for a while. :D

You know what? It's not crazy, it's just another way for you to look at Denali, another perspective. Anything that gives you an opportunity like that isn't crazy; at least I don't think so. I think you should scratch it off your list of things to feel bad about :)

Hey, you never know about things like this. I had a couple of books by a woman who talked to animals. This was probably 20 years ago and I don't know what happened to them. Something led me to think she wasn't quite legit. I do not discount the possibility, however, that some people can communicate with animals.

Nope, you're not crazy. My horse bucked me off and it really scared me, so I got a communicator. She didn't really tell me anything too enlightening but there were some cute things she said and at the time, it helped me get through what I was feeling. At this point, best to leave no stone unturned with your girl! Sorry about the pool in your house....

Nope, I agree. There are some real quacks out there, and when I decided to have one come out I did loads of research and asked tons of questions.

She actually said that horses don't talk in sentences, that they show her pictures, and she puts the pictures into words. I should maybe do a longer post explaining our first session. It really was amazing.

No, she didn't touch Denali at all when she was "talking" with her. That's the amazing part to me. Last time I had her out she told me that Denali's saddle didn't fit. I threw a fit because I had double and triple checked it. I went to get it and threw it on her back, after a second or two she pointed at a spot in the back where I never thought to look. I stuck my hand under and sure enough, there was a pinching point.

I think she really is amazing, and I know it may make me sound cooky, but I figure I can sense when Denali feels bad, even though no one else sees it. I assume that's what it's like for her, but stronger feelings.

Anyway, her name is Joan Ranquet, and if you google her name she has a website.

Denali gives her 2 hooves up!

I think that it would be really neat to have an animal communicator come talk to my girl but my trainer would probably sent me packing and/or I would NEVER EVER EVER EVER hear the end of it so maybe when I graduate and move away I will change my name where crazy clothes and then get a communicator. I wonder if I could pull that off.

I used my normal name, and wore normal clothes and it worked out fine for me. ;0)

Dude-- no fun coming home to a swimming pool. Gads!! Hey at least you weren't the house that is all over Yahoo right now- busted a pipe and froze the entire thing. Pretty pix, but MAN what a headache!!

Communication is an amazing thing. And you are no more nuts than the rest of us ;) I'd LOVE to hear more about that first session!

That's really cool. I'm impressed she knew those things without touching her. :) I don't think you're kooky or whatever you said because you can tell when she feels bad. I'm that way with all my animals, including my goats. More often than not I know one of the animals is sick a week before anyone else notices symptoms. I think it's just about knowing animal body language and knowing the norm for your specific pet. :)
