t-24 hours

Tomorrow we go back to Seattle. I always have mixed emotions about leaving. I love my family. My mom is great, but has a really hard time with me being 3,000 miles away and I always have to hear about it. Someday we hope to move back to the area, but for now I try to take it one day at a time.

Ready for the fight total? - 0

That's not good necessarily. Having little fights usually keeps us from having huge blow ups. I have bit my tongue a lot. She talks about her sister and how controlling she is of her kids (my older cousins) and how she is nothing like her (silence.) Oh well, what are you going to do? My mom and dad are very good to me, so I don't have much to complain about.

As for Ms.Slew we got her invoice for her massive work up. Ugh. It was discounted a lot, but still a little over a grand. Still no answers. I just want answers with a diagnosis.

We're going to start working her again. Gulp.

I guess she's been full of her self since she's been turned out in the pasture. She doesn't like leaving the herd, and she freaks out coming in and out without them.

NOT what I wanted. A herd-bound crazy mare. We'll see how bad it is when I make it out there again. Hopefully tomorrow night or Thursday morning. She hasn't had anything really done to her thanks to multiple injuries, so she is going to need to learn the words "work ethic."

Our floor in our house is re-done! Now to move back in. Oh the joy of a million things to do.

Hope everyone had a great Christmas! Get anything good??

Ugh. I'd faint if I read that invoice. :(

I'm glad the trip went well as far as those things go. I don't even like living an hour from my parents much less a whole country away. I don't know how you do it.

I hope you had a good Christmas. And I hope D does well when she goes back to work. I agree a herd bound horse is a huge pain in the butt, but remember dealing with that is so worth it for her to have horse companionship. :)

OMG. I hate huge vet bills that don't give you answers. That sucks. I hope the Denali drama ends for you and you get to just enjoy your horse!

My horse not dying was a good thing to get for Christmas...she colicked on Christmas Eve, very mild but still very scary as we had no idea if we could get a vet out if/when we needed to. It would appear that the colic was linked to her cycle...this time of year has been hell for mares, it seems like.

Oh Denali. You better be good, especially with all this money your mom is spending on you! I think that tends to just get to their heads though ;)

The lack of a diagnosis is certainly frustrating. Try to have a good trip.

Herd bound - weren't you worried about Denali not making friends? Kidding! All will work itself out - could be phase since she is still learning how to be a horse again. I know there are there are 7 stages of grief; maybe there are 7 stages of learning to be a horse?

My New Year's wish for you is a diagnosis and a good ride on your sweet girl. Happy New Year's!

I'd have a heart attack if I saw that vet bill!

And I hope this changes the cycle of no fights lead to big blowout with your mom. It's never pretty when there's a big blowout.

And yes, thanks! I got a great gift from my husband from Tim's Boots. Great new handbag.
