It's official!

It's official! I own a business. I opened a business before (I made really cute magnets with photos inside of them) and that was fine. I only sold them at craft shows and of course made no money. I have been wanting to do something entrepreneurial for a while, but couldn't think of exactly what I wanted to do. As you may also know, I love raising money for horse rescues. I decided that I could do both things at one time and have opened up "It's In The Bag!" an custom tail bag company (ha!! It's just me) that donates 15% of each sale to the rescue of the week. The rescue is the benefit for two weeks, and 15% of the total made goes to that rescue. I figured that once I pay for fabric, shipping and sales tax they will probably make out better than I do.

Check out my "store" and let me know what you think! I'm working on getting a URL, (Edit: I did! http://www.customtailbags.com/). Feel free to forward it to rescues that you like, so they can get added to my list. I do require that they have 503-C status, NOT be featured on the Fugly Blog (no seriously, it's a requirement) and are able to provide me with a receipt (but if they can't life will go on.) I hate keeping track of receipts, but I also hate fighting with the tax man.

I missed quite a bit lately sooo...

Belated happy birthday to Denali!

I'm sorry you didn't pass the test. :( I know what an awful feeling that is.

The new trainer guy sounds awesome! I think everyone will work out just fine for you and Denali. :)

Good luck with the tail bag business!

They are a good one! I don't want to raise money for anyone who doesn't know that I am doing it. That ends up looking bad on my part (like I'm raising it, but not going to give it to them.) Feel free to send my website to them! I'd be honored!

Great idea! I envy you craft people... I couldn't even get Cheyenne's tail INTO a 3 section tail bag, never mind create one! The rescue I got monster from is a legit, AMAZING rescue. They run on VERY minimal funding & still manage to do amazing things. They just brought in TWENTY mustang babies from the kill pen.

They're on my facebook too. :) Good luck with the business!!!

Great idea! Someday when I have extra money (LOL!!!!) I could get one in Solo's colours!!! Only one piece of advice -- your sales site is really cute, but might want to go with a little quieter background, the flowers were so bright, they kinda burned my retinas...

Thanks, is it glaring to anyone else? It looks fine on my computer and phone. Maybe if I change the white background behind my font? I like the flowers, but don't want to be responsible for burned reitnas

I have a great place for you to donate, but it isn't a rescue. Its a local therapeutic riding program here in Oregon. They have a great program and a wonderful website. Check them out at www.rideable.org

Is there any way you could fashion a tail bag into a fly swatter for a very-short-tailed horse?

There's a Percheron at the rescue who was docked extremely short; his physical tail is three inches long with tail hairs that aren't even a foot long.

He gets very paranoid about bugs, and with fly season just around the corner, we'd like to find something we can put on him that's more attractive than tying in baling twine.

PS- The rescue is Gentle Giants Draft Horse Rescue

Could you send me an e_mail photo of his tail. I'd love to help him! Customtailbags@ yahoo.com I want to see what I'm working with.
