Everybody's Working for the Weekend

TGIF!!

Studying is going "okay" but I am the queen of distractions and between reading blogs and facebook I think the three hours I studied last night really ended up as two hours of studying and one hour of reading blogs. Boo me. Yay for you though. I love your blogs.

A few weeks ago I said I was going to do something...I forget how I put it. Anyone who reads this blog knows that I have certain fear issues around Denali. After the trailer accident my fear turned into phobia (mostly about trailers.) It's hard to love something so much, and to be so afraid of it. You also may know that I'm into trying weird things.

So what did I do?

Guess anyone? Anyone have a guess?

I've gone off the deep end and did some "deep-meditation" (aka. Hypnotise) with a woman.

I'll give you a moment to laugh...

...go ahead... I know you want to...

Okay, now that you got that out of your system.

Do I think it worked? I haven't seen Denali since, but I can vision doing things with her without breaking into a cold sweat. I can actually think about trailers, so that's good. It actually gave me something to think about when I do get nervous. I know that she feeds off of me. I also know that unless I work with her now, she'll get my number and make it harder in the future.

Do I think I'm cured? No. I do think it helped a little, but I think that I will know more once I go see the Mare-wolf tomorrow.

Have any of you ever been hypnotized?

I think what's most important is how you feel, not what method you use to feel better!

I find it wonderful that you're willing to try new things and share your results.

Kudos to you!

I haven't done hypnosis, but I don't see it as a crazy thing to do. I deal with older women who have fear issues around horses, on the ground or in the saddle, and using different techniques can help different people. Give me a shout (jo @ backinthesaddletraining.com ) if you want to talk about some ways to help you with the fear you're experiencing. Good for you for facing it! That is not an easy thing to do.

Hey, hypnotism is just another "tool in the tool-box" and I see absolutely nothng wrong with it. I was hypnotized once in an attempt to cure my insomnia, but unfortunately it did not work. At all. But it does work for some people and it certainly doesn't hurt to try.

Someone explain to me why I have a Scienctology (sp?) ad on my blog?

My mother-in-law is/was heavily into hypnosis. I believe she actually has some kind of college credentials related to it. I sometimes use self-hypnosis for relaxation if I'm having extensive dental work. Nitrous oxide helps too...

I think that if you believe that it has worked for you, then it will. I didn't laugh! If that is what you need for confidence, then good for you for trying it!

I feel for you! I have had major horse related phobias and anxiety from a really bad accident. I used hypnosis to get over the panic attacks. I loved it! But it did require more than one session.
Good Luck!

I don't know how those ads work but sometimes I wonder if it doesn't track what we've been looking at on our computers. Weird.

I've never been hypnotized. I do know what it's like dealing with phobias though. I have several. Unfortunately I've never found a way to get over mine at all. I'm sorry you're having fear issues. I can't blame you though after what you went through. I hope the hypnosis helps you. If it does maybe I can try it lol. Sorry I can't be of more help.

Hypnosis isn't a weird thing! My Grandmother bought me a book for Christmas that is all about how hypnosis can improve your riding and anxieties. Don't be ashamed, it is a great idea!

I think I've figured out the ads thing. I'm still reading back through your blog, starting from the beginning and I finally saw the connection. The ads pick up keywords from the page you are viewing. When I read posts about supplements it has ads for Smartpak and things like that. Or if I'm reading about bits it advertises Kimberwick bits. So they apparently work off of key words in your posts. Just thought I would mention it lol. :)
