Space Needle & Losing Weight

I am taking my students on a field trip to the Space Needle in a few weeks.

Today I told them where we were going and one of my students announced that the Space Needle came from aliens 600 years ago, and that they still live there.

He won't go.

They are so funny, and so cute sometimes.

In other notes, I decided to make goals even thought I said I wouldn't. The only difference is that the goals are for me.

How many of you made New Years resolutions? I suck at them, but I have also decided that I am REALLY overweight and it needs to go. I figured that if I write about my goals, it makes it public then I have to try. No giving up.

So what did I do? I made another blog (yes, yes, I know. I think I have 3 of them now....) Has anyone else made the same goal for this year? I don't like talking about myself, so I figured I could find some other authors who have the same goal as me and they can babble about themselves too.

I'll make the blog public once I'm not the only one putting myself out there.

Anyone want to co-author? Anyone?

I would like to lose weight, but I think my goals are just going to be getting Mamaw's house finished and livable so I can move in, and getting myself more established as a pet groomer. ... Then maybe I can think about losing weight! :3

I am right there with you on this one! I have a family reunion (I haven't been home in 10 years) coming up in June and I have visions of a much smaller person boarding that airplane! :)

Perfect! Any of you want to co-author?

Oh I would definitely help out. Its much easier to have motivation if you aren't doing it alone!

I'm back in the working-out-losing-weight-gaining-fitness camp. I'll co-author.

I seriously need to lose about...big sigh...a hundred pounds. Even though I have a big horse, hauling around a lot less of me would make him happy, I'm sure. I can only imagine how much easier riding would be.

The interwebz tells me I'm at a good weight, but I'd like to get rid of some of the stuff that jiggles and replace it with stuff that does not. So I'm going to try and walk 3 miles at least twice per week (hopefully 3) and stop eating at fast food places so often and see what happens.

I just hope I don't give up on those resolutions by the end of January. :)

My new years resolution is sort of pathetic... I decided that I need to drink more water. I drink far too many sugary juices, and tend to get dehydration headaches and dizziness, so there's my resolution. I was going to decide to eat healthier (not to loose weight, but to gain muscle and energy) but to be frank I have no idea how to do it. Plus, to be totally honest, I'm afraid of failure, and think I'd sort of forget about it by June. Good luck though! I'd be happy to follow along and motivate, should you so desire ;)

Hmm I don't need to lose weight, but I do have a lot of health related goals this year. I hope someone decides to co-author with you because I'll follow and I'm pretty good at giving encouragement (I think - not trying to sound conceited lol). :) Good luck with you goal! I probably made too many, especially as quickly as last year flew by.

I never make New Year's resolutions because, like, 99% of people who make them have completely forgotten about them by Frebruary/March. Personally, I've been really focusing on fitness/nutrition for several months now (although of course I indulged a bit over the holidays!), so I intend to continue on that track. Even though I have lost exactly 0 pounds so far, I am much more fit. But it would be nice to lose a few pounds, too!

I too would like to lose lbs and tone up for riding. My poor horse is hating the extra 15 I have hanging around. Im trying the zone diet, my mom swears by it and I've already lost 2 lbs. so I'm going to continue! Its pretty resonable- all about portion sizes. Can I co-author too!?

My goal is to lose weight but by eating healthy. I don't have a thyroid so on of the effects is it is very difficult to lose so I am trying to find the good combination of food and activities to get there. I no longer say diet because I like eating WAY TOO MUCH (curse of living in the deep south). My favorite new find is a fruit spread that I can put on a piece of wheat toast in the morning that has enough fiber to keep me satisfied until lunch (and the spread is 30 cals).

Can't wait to see the new blog!

Low carb diet! I lost 25lbs easily with it and it became more or less a way of eating for me. Plus I felt much better. I know that low carb isn't for everyone but it sure worked for me because I could stick with it.

Keep to your goals. When you begin to accomplish things it sure does a big boost for self confidence and outlook! That's the best thing of all. And make sure you set attainable goals...

Kate, have you looked at Michael Pollan's book "In Defense of Food?" It's a wonderful book about eating food because our reductionistic society has put it all down to nutrients. It's not a diet book but is about eating healthy. It's more than disconcerting to read what goes into our food. I'm eating healthier this year because I know it makes me feel better. It's not easy because of all of the crap around, but it can be done.

Drinking water is also much healthier than all the drinks full of corn syrup. Our body needs water, and a lot of ailments can be helped by drinking more water. I have a tough time drinking enough water, but, again, I feel better when I do.

Would co-author in a heartbeat! I'm trying to lose as well. It's so incredibly hard!

Hubby has promised to buy me something from Tim's Boots if I manage to lose at least half of the weight I want to this year. Good bribe, lol! Of course, he's also offering to bribe me with gadgets...

I hope that this year is better for everyone. The last one was really really rough.
