I remember reading this book when I was young. I was SO jealous of the girl in the book. I tried to think of a million ways to turn my parent's garage into a stable. One year for Christmas my my dad bought a bunch of straw for his hunting dogs. I was SURE I was getting a horse. I have never wanted something in this life like I wanted a horse. I remember waking up at the crack of dawn running downstairs to see my new horse. When my mom and dad realized why I was bawling on Christmas Day they felt horrible. No pony. Lessons, yes, but never my own horse.
So. Why would I mention Summer Pony? There is a chance. A small chance. A very small chance that I am going to be getting another horse. Not to buy, not even on trial. Just a favor to a friend. Just for the summer. Difference is he is a large boy, and not quite a pony. I'm not going to go into it because I am 99% sure it won't work out, but that's why I have this blog. I can write whatever I want! I'm slightly excited so I had to write something, or tell someone. I will write more about this story, but first some things need to be taken care of with him. I will bet that I will be able to link to another blog for you to read his story. The trainer at the barn I work at has offered me a stall for all my hard work, so that is taken care of. She's excited for me. Even if this doesn't work out maybe I'll see what I can find. Problem? I'm afraid I'll fall in love. You know I will.
Also. Pop Quiz. Notice anything different about this blog? Anyone? Anyone??

That Facebook like thingy?
I normally read you in Google Reader, so I can't tell what is different...
I hope this summer horse works out for you. :)
So exciting, I hope it works out!
I can understand not wanting to get your hopes up, but wow I would be totally excited lol! I hope it all works out perfectly with him and I can't wait to hear more about him.
. . . . I scoured the blog and I'm not seeing anything different, but I'm a very unobservant person, so . . .
I loved that book! I still have it, actually.
Best of luck with your own summer pony. Fingers crossed for you guys.
I used to imagine that I owned a horse and it would run along side the school bus because it couldn't stand to be away from me. I would picture it running and jumping obstacles along the way.
A little "narcisstic" in hindsight, but I got it from My Friend Flicka where the horse was outside when he got out of school.
Excited for your summer pony!! That sounds great! Hope everything works out for you!
And I think you added the social element - there is a facebook plugin that is new perhaps?
I guess my "new thing" isn't going to show up for a few days. Boo. Not too exciting.
What do you mean not too exciting? Getting another horse is ALWAYS exciting, even if you have to wait several days, weeks, YEARS!!!!!!!!!
Drillrider, I did the EXACT same thing, only I had a family of horses and the stallion was metallic gold colored and the mare was metallic silver colored and their babies were metallic silver and gold colored. I can't remember their names aside from the stallion (who I called Flying Colors... I was a creative kid) but they went everywhere with me! To this day my mother still has one of those make-a-mugs with a picture I drew on it with me riding my imaginary Flying Colors.
Drillrider, Andrea, I did the same thing! Anywhere we went in a car I asked for the window seat and then stared at the side of the road imagining my horse galloping along the side of the road, jumping obstacles. I would even imagine the sound of his hooves when he crossed pavement or gravel and his footfalls when he would change gaits. I had such a vivid imagination lol. I don't think I ever named my guy though. :)
I had a notebook of horses I had drawn - complete with names - that I would own someday. Funny but I don't think any of them looked like the 3 I am blessed with now!
Sending great luck your way that everything works out with you getting a summer 'pony' :)
