AND

I need to buy some new hind boots for the beast...she's destroying her neoprene splint boots. Suggestions? I want them to be flexible, but hold up. This last pair has lasted a whole 3 months. Most of it is where she hits is not on the reinforced part. If that makes sense. Ugh Denali! You stress me out.

Heidi Boots; expensive yes but after 2 years of looking for an alternative this is what we are back to using.

TB had a bad slip on ice 2 years ago. I used these for her recovery work.

Where is she hitting herself on her legs?

After our wonderful bout with EPM she clips her inside of her legs when she runs. Right above the fetlock. The splint boots I have currently are wearing out at the fetlock.

If you want support as well as protection, I'd go with something like Sports Medicine boots - ugly but very functional. If you want something that provides good protection but not much support, try Eskedrons - I don't know if they make tall back boots but the short ones provide good fetlock protection and the fronts cover the area from below the knee to the fetlock. They're really tough in my experience, although not cheap. I've never had much luck with splint or brushing boots - they're usually pretty light weight and don't wear well.

Denali, there has been a study recently that found that a lot of boots overheat the legs. It's probably not a huge deal, but ya might want to get some with vents, like the Tri-Zone Cross Country boots or Dalmar boots.
Of course, if you want to be trendy, you could get some memory foam Equifit T-boots. I also like the Eskadron Gel-Tec boots. (All those are available from Dover.)

Whatever you do, don't get SMB boots!!! They hold ridiculous amounts of heat in the leg, and even the people at Professional's Choice don't recommend them being on for more than an hour of light work only, no turnout.
I myself am planning on getting a vented pair, like Frizzle said - maybe the Dalmars. I can't risk her tendons possibly failing from overheating.

But also, for less heat-and-exercise related work, LOVE my Bit of Britain Nunn Finer boots. They have a dizzying array, go to the Bit of Britain website and have a look! LOVE them!
